Urethane & Epoxy Coating

Urethanes are another film-forming sealer for use over concrete. As far as providing a coating over decorative concrete, Urethane sealers are thicker than acrylic sealers and provide excellent resistance to wear, abrasion, and chemicals.

But care must be taken when applying Urethane as most react poorly to moisture until they are fully cured. If water is present on the surface when the urethane is applied, a reaction could occur that would result in bubbling and foaming. That may be part of the reason that more contractors are using water-based urethanes, and are using urethane as a preferred top-coat over epoxy.

Most Urethanes add sheen to decorative concrete that highlights the color and beauty of the work. Since some customers prefer just enough gloss to make the colors glow, but don’t want a shine, Architectural Enhancements offers urethanes in gloss or satin finishes.
